Pride Rock

Pride Rock has become one of the most iconic and meaningful symbols in UNA athletics. Inspired by the 1994 film The Lion King and introduced in the early 2000s, Pride Rock was first unveiled under Head Football Coach Bobby Wallace. The large, painted boulder sits near the entrance to Braly Stadium, and for UNA football players, it represents more than just game day—it’s a physical reminder of strength, pride, and unity.

Before every home game, players touch Pride Rock as they make their entrance onto the field, a powerful ritual that connects them to those who came before. The rock has been repainted and relocated over the years, but its spirit remains unchanged. For players and fans alike, Pride Rock symbolizes the grit and tradition of Lion football and serves as a rallying point for excellence, legacy, and team spirit. Each touch before kickoff is a reminder: you play for more than just yourself—you play for the pride.
